Kung Hei Fat Choy! May the Year of the Dragon bring you a passionate and harmonious year ahead!
The year 2012 marks the 25th anniversary of our beloved chapter. I am honored to have been elected as President for this special year of JCI Sha Tin. Our theme this year is “Passion in Harmony”. We are passionate in serving our chapter. We are passionate in contributing to our community. We are passionate in creating positive change. All this can only be done while maintaining the harmony in our lives. JCI Sha Tin has always been a big harmonious family and we continue striving to be one for the many anniversaries to follow.
2012 is also a year filled with many international opportunities for our members. Hong Kong will host the JCI Asia-Pacific Conference this year, which is a once in a -JC- lifetime opportunity. The JCI World Congress shall also be held relatively close to us this year, in Taipei, Taiwan. Aside from these, 2012 also marks the 55th anniversary of our Sister Chapter JCI Wakayama, and the 20th year of our sister pact. In addition, it is our 10th anniversary with our Friendly Organization Jiangmen Youth Federation. We shall encourage our members to grasp these exciting international opportunities.
Our flagship project, Love of the Earth, shall continue to raise the public’s awareness on environmental issues. We shall further build on last year’s award winning project, the Sha Tin Ten Green Scenic Spots Election, by organizing an ECO Treasure Hunt in Sha Tin. During this treasure hunt, participants are given the challenge to complete tasks while lowering the EO2 emission. The project objective is to raise awareness of the CO2 emission amongst young people.
Dragon boat is a fun sport and great for teambuilding. On the boat, no matter from which chapter you may be, or which position you may hold; you are all passionately working together in reaching the same goal. Through blood, sweat and tears, you know you can count on your teammates to support and encourage you. Come and let us row together!
